Political Parties

Why is it that moderates generally don't get elected for presidency? I mean they have values from both groups, and I don't personally know anyone that agrees with all of the values of either party. Os why are the major political parties so appealing?

  1. here is a good video on why we do have 2 main parties: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7tWHJfhiyo&list=PLqs5ohhass_QZtSkX06DmWOaEaadwmw_D&index=1&feature=plcp

this video also explains moderates, who are usually third party.

  2. What do you mean? Most presidents have been more moderate versions of either left or right parties. Liberals and conservatives are generally fairly mild in America.

  3. If you think of the Republican and Democratic parties as a whole, they are also fairly moderate in terms of the political scale. I think it's a good thing the parties are not too wildly far apart (even if animosity between the two may make it seem like that lately), and also not too similar.

  4. Cody, I am referring to those that claim to be an independent party, I should have said that instead of moderate, not sure what I was thinking, my bad.
