Post Modernism
Baudrillard said that in our time and age we are being run by the media and we don't have grand narratives. He continued to say that the reason we don't have any grand narratives anymore is because we now we are just being exposed to sound bytes and pictures which don't have the same depth as the great works that have been produced. He also said that we have fleeting media images which give us a chaotic empty world. I found this very interesting. I think this is a latent consequence of the constant and rapid improvement upon technology which in a way is an amazing thing but also it is a tragedy.

What one considers a "grand narrative" is relative; why would it be important that we don't have "great works" anymore. As I posted, art is relative. Nothing is universally inspiring or pleasing. I could care less about how people live their lives and the condition of society. How can you undo improvement?
ReplyDeleteBy wiping out a society, that perhaps is more advanced in a certain field but is lacking in another which as a result prevented them from maintaining their existence.
