Dang Media

The way media is used in political advertisements largely affects what we think of the content. From the placement of words on the screen to the angle of the camera. We are constantly being manipulated. But, what would happen if we started to question things? Would the media adapt further? And, would that be a positive thing?

  1. The media so far has proved a tenacious opponent to one's own agenda. People don't question it because for some reason a lot of people are "sheep" for lack of a better word and don't critically think through most directives thrown their way by the media. If we all started to analyse the media, I think that the media owners would get shocked at how smart people became all of a sudden.
Would media change? Doubtful. Some techniques always work, even if we resent them. One negative ad plants a negative thought in your head (inception) and it may grow into a new opinion. At least that's what they hope.

  2. I agree with Cody, though media seems like a subject that is supposed to adapt to the times, or so it is predicative to adapt, the same ad campaigns and commercials work time and time again. Though I feel in the future that the forms of which the media conveys these messages will change. That change in perception may be the change you are referring to, or maybe not, but regardless the medias messages are dependent on the medium in which they are shown.
